Robert James Coones
Robert “Bob” James Coones, 83, of Gentry, died Aug. 11, 2019, at his home.
He was born Aug. 1, 1936, in Bakersfield,
Calif., to Theodore Earl Coones and Elsie M. Robinson Coones. He graduated from Siloam Springs High School in 1954. He worked for many different companies as an electrician. He married Mary Barnes on June 15, 1991. He was a member of Tired Iron of the Ozarks and First Baptist Church in Gentry. He loved to spend his time outdoors, either hunting, fishing or around the campfire with his grandsons. He always enjoyed turning a wrench and doing mechanic work.
He was preceded in death by a son, Corris Gene Doss; brother, Don Coones; and his parents, Ted and Elsie Coones.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; seven children, Mike Coones and wife Brenda of Gentry, Robert S. Coones of Malvern; Melanie Hall and husband Ron of Greenville, Pa., Victoria Tarasuck and husband Rick of Hubbard, Ohio, Teresa Stewart of Owasso, Okla., Regina Morris and husband Tony of Gentry, and Duane Doss and wife Samantha of Gentry; brother, Ken Coones of Gentry; three sisters, Doris Zoske of Chandler, Ariz., Ellie Oyler of Tulsa, Okla., and Joyce Hill of Arlington, Texas; 31 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 14, at First Baptist Church in Gentry, with Pastor Eddie Knight officiating. Arrangements are by Wasson Funeral home in Siloam Springs.
Edgar ‘Sonny’ Merl Harper
Edgar “Sonny” Merl Harper, 79, of Gentry, died on Aug. 11, 2019, at his home.
He was born Dec. 17, 1939, in Gentry, to Arthur “Bud” Merl Harper and Sybil Smith Harper. He was a lifelong resident of Gentry. He married Rhonda Woods on July 17, 1987, in Miami, Okla. He worked as a chicken grower for Peterson Industries.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bud Harper.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda of the home; mother, Sybil Harper of Gentry; four children, Rhonda Radtke of Rogers, Kandy Harper of Tulsa, Okla., Joshua Harper and wife Tina of Colcord, Okla., Sunni Davis and husband Tim of Eucha, Okla.; three sisters, Sandra Thompson and husband Eddy of Gentry, LuElla McKain of Siloam Springs, Bobbie Nolan and husband Scotty of Gentry; seven grandchildren, Lane, Harper, Mya, Brittany, Megan, Heather, Kyle; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 16, at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs, with Wilks Harper officiating.
Kyle David Koehn
Kyle David Koehn, 50, of the Maysville Community, died on Aug. 7, 2019, at his home.
He was born Sept. 10, 1968, in Topeka, Kan., to Gladwin and Verda Koehn. He grew up with his parents and his sisters in Paris, Texas. He worked most of his life as a heavy equipment operator.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Verda Becker Koehn.
He is survived by his father and stepmother, Gladwin and Wanda Koehn of Gentry; two sisters, Sondra Koehn of Galva, Kan., and Rhonda Koehn of Gentry; two stepsisters, Chayla Nicholas and husband Darcy of Maysville, and Fonda Schmidt and husband Jason of Clarksdale, Miss.
Funeral services were Sunday, Aug. 11, at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs, with Pastor Bill Query officiating.
Virginia Lorene Ennis McClellan
Virginia Lorene Ennis McClellan, 92, of Siloam Springs, died Aug. 5, 2019.
She was born Nov. 24, 1927, in Pawhuska, Okla., to Henry Madison Ennis and Pearl Lorene Davis Ennis. She lived most of her life in Gentry. She married Troy Dow McClellan on Feb. 2, 1947, in Bentonville. She was a member of Gentry First Assembly of God, where she taught Sunday school, vacation Bible school, and helped build two churches. She loved to travel, fish and hunt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, James Luther Ennis and Charles Edward Ennis; and two sisters, Wilda Lucy McChristian and Nona Mae Evans.
She is survived by her son, David McClellan of the home; and a sister, Elise Lois Davidson, of Siloam Springs.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 8, at Gentry First Assembly of God, with Pastor Michael Powers officiating. Burial followed at Springtown Cemetery in Springtown. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.
