We will wash our hands, pray for help and forgiveness and carry on

If you are holding a bad occurrence in your heart that you dread to know about, you hate to believe it and denial seems the perfect way to take care of the evil but you know it won’t go away, what are we to do? If you admit it and speak the words, does that give life to the entity and it is then a reality? Just uttering the name and letting it come out into the air is enough to kill the serenity in your being!

We as Americans have to face the facts and it has been introduced to the daylight here in our area too. We live such a wonderful and blessed life around here, plenty of everything and more if needed. We work and play and don’t think of diseases changing our entire lives from coast to coast but it has and it won’t end quickly. We have no options; we are in this thing for the long run and we will finish it as winners, but the haul will be uphill most of the way.

The idea of folks in our wonderful country dying by the hundreds of a disease that has no known inoculation to prevent it is as foreign as space aliens. We put a man on the moon, transplant hearts, clone animals and are educated beyond belief. How can this happen to us in this country? Just like it does in every country in the world!

If you read my weekly ranting, you know I am a Christian so I have been praying more than usual. I have no doubts about my faith but I know we are bound to go through some dry years, ice storms and tornados. We can’t run from these things and we can’t fix it either. We can and will try, call the rainmaker and, when you hear the whistles blow, go to the shelters we built. The rainmaker won’t work and the shelter won’t save your home and community. So we are bound to suffer through the episode in living color.

I do enjoy having all the family home. We eat and laugh, ride horses and work together. The livestock seems to all be doing fine; cattle evidently do not get the bug or any other animals, including dogs and cats. So blessings are there, sometimes we just don’t see them.

I feel like part of my business is to sorta point out the good stuff for us to appreciate as we deal with the lack of TP and social meetings. The sun still makes pretty sunrises and sunsets, the grass is growing so fast the cattle can’t keep up with it and my close relative is happy with her flowerbeds.

It is my opinion, and we all have one, we will pay attention to our leaders, wash our hands, pray for help and forgiveness and continue on with what has to be done. Feed the kids, sweep the floor and cook, count cows, grease up the hay equipment, sip some good hot coffee and read the paper. Pray for those who are on the front lines in this war and help your neighbors if you are needed. And stay six feet apart!
