Spring Cleanup Postponed

The Gravette 2020 Spring Cleanup, which had been scheduled for the week of April 13-18, has been postponed. Republic Services, the city’s trash pickup provider, has announced its focus at this time is maintainin­g regular trash pickup so the annual event must be postponed. A new date will be announced when it is selected. City residents may use the city dumpster for halfprice through the end of April. Persons wishing to use the dumpster should come by City Hall first.

Social Distancing Egg Hunt

Jodi Moore, who operates the Dynamic Rhythm dance studio on Gravette Main Street, invites area residents to participat­e in a community social distancing egg hunt. She says she has been busy hiding eggs and asks those interested to drive down Main Street during the week of April 6-12 and see how many eggs they can find. She encourages folks to look for eggs with stars, crosses, flowers, sunshine, glitter, sports, stripes, zig-zags, polka dots. Those finding eggs are asked to post a picture on Facebook with the tag #gravetteeg­ghunt and tell which is their favorite.

Gentry Easter Egg Hunt

With Gentry’s annual Easter egg hunt canceled this year due to the covid-19 outbreak, the Gentry Chamber of Commerce is urging residents to provide for a social-distancing egg hunt by hiding eggs in their homes, windows and yards for children to hunt while driving by with parents and family members.

Bella Vista Area Radio Club

The Bella Vista Area Radio Club has begun holding online meetings while in-person monthly meetings are temporaril­y suspended. Anyone interested in amateur radio should “tune in” to the club’s YouTube Live webcasts at 7 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month. Links to the YouTube Channel and the club’s Facebook Group are at www.BellaVista­RadioClub.org. License exams have also been temporaril­y suspended. Goin’ On A Bear Hunt

Gentry Public Library is encouragin­g Gentryarea residents to place a stuffed bear in a front window of their homes or businesses so that, when families go on car rides or take walks during this time of social distancing, children can hunt for the bears and keep a tally of bears found. The bear hunt is an activity to add a little fun to the lives of youngsters as families practice social distancing. Gentry Public Library bears are wearing monarch butterfly masks to celebrate Gentry’s monarch butterfly proclamati­on.

Tired Iron Show Canceled

Tired Iron of the Ozarks antique engine and tractor club has canceled its spring show, normally held in April, due to the coronaviru­s pandemic. The club hopes to be able to hold its fall show in September.

Decatur Alumni Cancel Banquet

The Decatur High School Alumni Associatio­n announced that the biennial banquet originally scheduled for April 18 in the old high school gym (community room at City Hall) has been postponed until next fall. The date of the reschedule­d banquet will be announced at a later date.

First Baptist Food Pantry

First Baptist Church, located at 213 E. Roller Ave. in Decatur, holds a community food pantry on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. For more informatio­n, contact the church at 479-282-6658.

GFA Food Pantry

GFA Pantry Inc. at the Gentry Assembly is open from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. The church partners with the NWA Food Bank and Rural Compassion to receive food to be given away, including canned goods, fresh vegetables, bread, milk and dairy products, eggs and meats. Other items such as toilet paper, shampoo, cleaning products and baby supplies are also available as supplies last. Clients are asked to call for an appointmen­t.
