‘Pickin’ Time on 59’ still a go
Pickin’ Time on 59, a multi-community garageand yard-sale event offering antiques, collectibles and much more, will be held in Gentry and surrounding communities along Arkansas Highway 59 from Siloam Springs to Sulphur Springs on Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 24-26, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Tired Iron fall show canceled
The Tired Iron of the Ozarks has canceled its fall tractor and antique engine show due to covid-19 concerns and restrictions and hopes to hold its next show in April 2021.
Spaghetti supper fundraiser
The Billy V. Hall Senior Activity and Wellness Center, at 1870 Limekiln Road, in Gravette, is sponsoring a drivethrough spaghetti supper fundraiser from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24. The meal includes spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, dessert and a drink for $6. The center is still providing Meals on Wheels and curbside meal pickup during the covid-19 crisis. Proceeds will help support the Meals on Wheels program that provides meals to homebound seniors in Gravette, Decatur, Sulphur Springs, Hiwasse and Maysville.
Gentry Public Library open for limited hours
Gentry Public Library is open for limited hours — from 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday — and is offering curbside service every day. Email bookmark@gentrylibrary.us or call 479-736-2054. The library catalog can be contacted via Atrium.
72 West/Heroes Coffee car show
A car show, sponsored by 72 West and Heroes Coffee Centerton, will be held in the businesses’ parking lot Saturday, Sept. 26, to benefit the Centerton Animal Shelter. The show will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Judging of vehicles will be held at 1 p.m. 72 West/ Heroes Coffee is located at 11507 Highway 72, in Centerton. There are no public restrooms. Donations will be accepted to benefit the shelter. Anyone with questions may call 479-206-2491.
Bella Vista Area Radio Club
The Bella Vista Area Radio Club is conducting virtual meetings on the first Thursday of each month via YouTube Live. In-person monthly license testing has resumed on the second Saturday of the month. All amateur radio enthusiasts and prospective hams are invited. GFA food pantry drive-through
GFA Pantry Inc. at the Gentry Assembly is open from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. The pantry is drivethrough only during the covid-19 pandemic. Clients are asked to call 662-727-5157 or email gfapantry@gmail.com for appointments. They then can pull up to the drive-through awning and someone will meet them outside and get them signed in and bring their food to their vehicle. This is until further notice. The church partners with the NWA Food Bank and Rural Compassion to receive food to be given away, including canned goods, fresh vegetables, bread, milk and dairy products, eggs and meats. Other items such as toilet paper, shampoo, cleaning products and baby supplies are also available as supplies last.
First Baptist food pantry
First Baptist Church, located at 213 E. Roller Ave. in Decatur, holds a community food pantry on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. For more information, contact the church at 479-282-6658.
Gravette Farmers Market
The Gravette Farmers Market is open on Saturdays in Old Town Park. Hours for the market are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fresh fruits and vegetables, plants, eggs, farm-raised beef and pork products, jams and jellies, honey, baked goods and crafts are available. Senior Farmers Market coupons and WIC vouchers will be honored. Potential vendors should call manager Beth Patton at 479-7873313 to reserve a booth.
Library board meetings
Meetings of the Gravette Public Library advisory board are held at 6 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at the library. The library is located at 119 Main St. S.E. All meetings are open to the public.
