Special election set in Gentry
A special election is coming up on Feb. 9 in Gentry to determine whether to authorize the sale of alcoholic beverages for off-premises consumption on Sundays between the hours of 10 a.m. and 12 midnight within the city. Voters will have the opportunity to vote either for or against the measure. Early voting sites include the Benton County Clerk’s Office at 215 E. Central Ave., Suite 217, Bentonville, and the Siloam Springs Community Bldg. at 1205 Mt. Olive Street in Siloam Springs. Early voting is from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from Feb. 2 through Feb. 8. On election day, voters may cast their ballots at First Baptist Church, 232 W. Main St. in Gentry, from 7:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m.
Red Cross blood donations
The American Red Cross will be in Gentry on Feb. 8, from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m., at First Baptist Church, 221 W. Main Street. Blood donors may download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit RedCrossBlood.org, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1800-733-2767) or enable the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
Gentry city offices closed
Due to the rise in covid-19 cases, Gentry City Hall and Gentry Water Department offices are closed until further notice. Applications and payments may be made online at gentryarkansas. us. For more information, call the city offices at 479736-2555 or the water department at 479-736-2733.
Gentry quilt show canceled
The Gentry Chamber of Commerce has announced that this year’s quilt show has been canceled due to covid-19 concerns. Also on hold is the annual Chamber Awards Banquet.
Senior Center food pantry
The mobile food pantry at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center is held on the fourth Tuesday of each month, beginning at 10 a.m. Those interested are advised to arrive no later than 11 a.m. Food boxes are available for curbside pickup. Anyone with questions may call center director Melissa Provence at 479-787-5950.
Kiwanis Club meetings
Kiwanis Club meetings are held at 7 a.m. on the first and third Fridays of each month at the Gravette Civic Center and are open to the public. Visitors are asked to wear a mask when arriving and until seated when physical distancing is not possible.
GFA food pantry drive-through
GFA Pantry Inc. at the Gentry Assembly is open from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. The pantry is drive-through only during the covid-19 pandemic. Clients are asked to call 662-727-5157 or email gfapantry@gmail.com for appointments. They then can pull up to the drive-through awning and someone will meet them outside and get them signed in and bring their food to their vehicle. This is until further notice.
Bella Vista Area Radio Club
The Bella Vista Area Radio Club is conducting virtual meetings on the first Thursday of each month via YouTube Live. In-person monthly license testing has resumed on the second Saturday of the month. All amateur radio enthusiasts and prospective hams are invited. Details are online at www. First Baptist food pantry
First Baptist Church, located at 213 E. Roller Ave. in Decatur, holds a community food pantry on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. For more information, contact the church at 479282-6658.
Gentry library open by appointment
Gentry Public Library is open by appointment only. Appointments can be made from 10 a.m. to noon and from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Visits must be limited to 30 minutes. The library is also offering curbside service. Requests may be submitted through the library’s catalog (Atriuum), by email at bookmark@ gentrylibrary.us, or by calling 479-736-2054.
Library board meetings
Meetings of the Gravette Public Library advisory board are held at 6 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at the library. The library is located at 119 Main St. S.E. All meetings are open to the public.
