S&K Tires offers new and used tires, U-Haul rentals
GRAVETTE — Steven Smith did his research. He looked around and saw that there was a need and decided he could help fill it. There were few tire shops in the area so he and his partner, Crystal Griggs, started the new year by opening S&K Second Chance Tires Tuesday, Jan. 5, in Gravette.
The business is located at 204 First Ave. N.E., on Highway 59 just south of the overpass. Open hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. It can be reached by telephone at 479-3130531, or on the S&K Facebook page.
Steven is a Northwest Arkansas native, born at Rogers. He moved around a lot in his early years, he says, and graduated from high school in Mayo, Fla., in 2001. Smith and Griggs live in Centerton along with his daughter, Teeley Smith, 10, who is homeschooled. He has several years’ experience in the tire business because, after returning to Arkansas, he spent 12 years managing Rockin’ Tire in Siloam Springs for his sister, Caroline McGowan.
Smith offers a real bargain on used tires, selling any size or brand for only $25 plus tax. Buyers can take their tires and put them on at home or he will mount and balance them for $7.50 each. He sells a set of four tires for $80, essentially a buy three, get one free deal. He maintains a good
inventory and restocks often.
New tires are available at S&K as well. Any brand of new tires, including the popular lines BF Goodrich, General and Pirelli, can be ordered Monday through Friday and picked up at the shop on Friday. Smith will deliver them to Gravette from his distributor in Springdale each Friday.
Smith says a buyer will have difficulty finding cheaper tires anywhere in the state. He will accept payment at the time of sale or allow the buyer to finance the purchase through Snap Financial or ACIMA credit services.
S&K Tires also offers another service, opening a U-Haul dealership last week. Gravette resident Josh Roe will be assisting Smith and Griggs by managing the U-Haul business, which will be open 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Roe can be reached by calling 479-282-4045.
