Activity Center hosts Easter dinner and games

- STAFF REPORT

GRAVETTE — Guests at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center enjoyed an Easter celebration Thursday, April 14, with an Easter bonnet contest, Easter dinner menu and games following the meal.

Almost every seat was filled at lunchtime as regular patrons and guests came out to participate in the celebration. Tables were strewn with jelly beans and a variety of Easter candies. Small Easter egg trees, metal ducklings and bunnies served as centerpieces. Each place setting featured an Easter napkin and a bunny favor made from a small plastic egg.

Several ladies had been working throughout the week decorating hats for the annual Easter bonnet contest. Eight ladies entered the contest and each person received a ballot on which they voted for their favorite bonnet. Winners in the Easter bonnet contest were LaVonda Augustine, Mavis Killeen and Sue Peters. Each received a gift bag containing a decorated wooden Easter cutout.

The dinner menu featured ham with pineapple garnish, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, deviled eggs, a roll and coconut cake. Many diners stayed for a session of games after the meal.

A large pile of candy was placed on one table for an Easter dice game. Each player started with four pieces of candy and was able to add to or deduct from their stash depending on what number they rolled on the die. Mary Griffin won the game by being the first person to collect ten pieces. Following the dice game, guests played several rounds of bingo with Easter baskets filled with candy and snacks as prizes.
