Pioneers shut out Bobcats, fall to others

GENTRY — After shutting out the Berryville Bobcats, 10-0, in a home game on April 12, the Pioneers were defeated at Shiloh Christian on Thursday and at Rogers Heritage on Friday.

The Pioneers scored two runs in the first inning, five in the second, one in the third and two more in the fifth on April 12 when they hosted the Berryville Bobcats in the Merrill Reynolds Memorial Sports Complex.

Drew Nash started on the mound for the Pioneers. He pitched the first four innings, allowed four hits, no runs and struck out four Berryville batters while walking one. Alec Pearson threw one inning in the game and walked two and struck out one but allowed no hits.

Isaiah Lemke and Garry Cox each had two hits in the game. Cox had three RBIs and Lemke two. Crafton Beeler also brought in two runs. Brayden Feathers walked twice and scored three times in the game.

Lemke had a double and Dawson Rayburn a triple in the game. Lemke also scored three times.

Gentry’s 10 runs came on six hits and an error.

Shiloh Christian 5, Gentry 3

The Pioneers traveled to Springdale on Thursday to face the Saints of Shiloh Christian. They picked up a run in the first when Brayden Feathers scored after singling on a line drive to center and then tagging up making it home when Isaak Crittenden flied out to left, but the Saints scored five in the bottom of the second to take the lead and the game even though the Pioneers scored solo runs in the sixth and the seventh innings.

Gentry scored three runs on six hits and two walks. Riggs Harper hit a double in the game.

Hayden Henry scored in the sixth on a Bart Walker sacrifice fly to right. Dawson Rayburn singled and then scored in the seventh when Beeler hit into a fielder’s choice.

Isaiah Lemke was on the mound for the Pioneers. He walked two and struck out seven.

Rogers 5, Gentry 0

After three innings of solid defense on the part of the Pioneers, Rogers scored a run in the fourth and two each in the fifth and sixth while shutting out the Pioneers for a 5-0 win.

Gentry had four hits in the game. Rogers scored five runs on six hits.

Isaak Crittenden pitched five innings, striking out eight and walking six. He allowed four hits and three earned runs. Relieving in the final inning was Drew Nash, who walked one and allowed two hits and two runs.

Crafton Beeler had a double in the game.
