LEAD HILL — In the longest trip of the 2022 season, the Decatur boys’ soccer team made the almost-three-hour bus trip to Lead Hill for the second conference matchup with the Tigers on April 26. As with the match earlier in March, the Bulldogs overwhelmed the Tigers by eight goals.

The Tigers were playing with a slight disadvantage when the team took the field. The team only had nine players, including the gosling, whereas the Bulldogs had the required 11 players. The match continued with Decatur head soccer coach Daniel Meyer pulling one of his players in a sign of good sportsmanship.

The weather in Lead Hill was perfect with temperatures in the low seventies, lots of sunshine and no rain. But the wind still gusted to 15 miles an hour at times, causing a real issue for both teams. But still, the match went on as scheduled.

It did not take long for the Bulldog team to grab the advantage when, with two minutes off the first half clock, Steven Lucero used a header to shoot the ball into the corner of the net for the first goal of the night.

As the half progressed, Andres Revolorio hit a pair of kicks past the Tiger goalkeeper to put the Bulldogs up by three.

By the end of the first half, Decatur had amassed seven goals, one each by Kenny Barrios, Marvin Gramajo, Jose Uribe and Edger Herrera.

Revolorio made one more successful attack on the goal for the eighth and final goal of the night. The Bulldogs went on to defeat the Lead Hill Tigers, 8-0, for their first conference victory of the week.
