The operation went smoothly and was all done in the ER

My close relative is still in pain and I have done all I can do! I bundled her up and drove 41 miles to the hospital in the city because her doctor said they would be able to take care of her. Now it is almost daylight and she is still grunting and groaning with pain! They gave her plenty of shots and I expect some of them are still working and keeping her knocked out.

The hay business was running late as it does most days and she was tired after a very busy day working in the museum for retired relics like me. She gives one day every two weeks to help the ladies from our church as a volunteer. She likes to help and it is a pleasant sort of job.

She got home rather late for the day and proceeded to make supper, although she dropped the spoon into the disposal that I thought was absolutely unnecessary, but she wanted it. Then, being tired and not thinking, she reached through the rubber filter and into the disposal and cut the tip off her middle finger. Not just flesh but also a nick in the bone — therefore the specialist.

The operation went smoothly and was all done in the ER and by the specialist who happened to be there. He fixed the bone by smoothing it off and stitched the finger closed, gave her a prescription for drugs and we were home by eleven. She slept all the way and was still asleep when we got home. Then the shot wore off and the pain became a throb and a yell that would wake the dead! She woke up and the whole episode was over except for the aftereffects, pain.

She is not a sissy and I know of no one who is as tough as her but she did not like the idea of waking up to the immense throb and she let me know. It was light out by then and the sun was not up yet. I got the pills and gave her a couple of them and put her back to bed. It didn’t take long for the drugs to work and she was asleep again.

The morning was as I expected: questions and nods and a call to someone to be there with her all day. Bring the kids, she will be up and doing as soon as she wakes now. She will not remember the yell or any of the stuff she called the specialist when he filed the bone! No, nothing unprintable but not kind.

We finished by seven and my female offspring made one delicious meal for me. She cooks like her mother and her family sure appreciates it. She had visited the injured and said the pain had subsided and all was better shortly after noon but she couldn’t wash her face with one hand and was totally disgusted!

I was more than happy to see her up and around when I opened the door. She was in a fair to median mood, and the pain was taken care of with the medicine. A smile was very welcomed and she was busy. Now, I thank God for all the blessings!

We got off to bed without too much trouble but it was very difficult for me to help wash her face and the trusted daughter will see to the shower. One more blessing!

The Fourth of July is near and the contest is gonna happen. Are You Ready? Practice and then some more! I am good, real good! I never miss! Don’t let me beat you! Remember the Alamo!
