GENTRY — In Gentry and neighboring towns, flowers were blooming and the local wildlife came out to seize the sunny day on March 6. The rain cleared and nothing says “spring” like nature coming alive.

These occurrences remind residents that just as the warm weather is approaching, so will the various programs and activities that will be hosted by their cities. Here are a few programs to look forward to in the spring.

Gentry residents, get ready for a busy spring. On March 21, the Gentry Public Library will have a representative from the Amazeum stop by and host a butterfly workshop. Twenty-five families can sign up to enjoy this event from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The event includes the visitors making different arts and crafts.

Gentry Chamber of Commerce will host an Easter egg hunt in Gentry City Park at 1 p.m. on April 8. Children will pick up colored Easter eggs and socialize with neighbors.

Parents and children will be excited to hear that the Gentry splash pad will open on May 26 for Memorial Day weekend. The fishing derby at the Flint Creek Nature Area is set for 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, June 3. During that event, children will be introduced to fishing while spending time together with their families.

Do you have your tickets, Gravette? On April 15 and 16, the Gravette High School Drama will present “Footloose.” Also, on May 1, at 6 p.m., seniors and juniors in the high school band will put on a concert for residents.

For Decatur residents, grab your swimsuits and swim trunks because Decatur will plan to open the City Pool on June 1 at Old City Park. Also, the spring tree giveaway event will be on Saturday, April 29.

As the spring season approaches, neighbors may wish to mark their calendars and not miss any of the programs and events scheduled in their cities.

Residents should also take a moment to look around and enjoy the nature that surrounds them in their everyday life. If you look closely, you’ll find something new in something you’ve already seen.

Neighbors, get ready! It’s going to be a wonderful spring!
