Turn a birdhouse into a charming fairy cottage!

-

Add instant charm to any room with this delightfully whimsical cottage fashioned from a birdhouse! “I loved making this project,“says crafter Jodie May of A handmade Cottage. com. “It may look incredibly intricate, but all you really need are a few crafts-store supplies, glue and a bit of patience!”

1Spread

a layer of glue onto one side of the birdhouse. Then sprinkle with an even layer of beige gravel. Let dry. Repeat for each side of the birdhouse. Next, apply a layer of glue just to the bottom half of one of the beige gravel-covered sides and sprinkle with the green gravel. Let dry. Repeat for 3 remaining sides. 2To

put on the feather roofing — start by applying glue to the bottom half of one side of the roof. Press a row of feathers (stem up) onto the bottom. Add more rows of feathers and glue, working upward until the roof is covered. Trim stems before applying the last row, when you reach the peak. Julie recommends offsetting rows so that the

feathers will overlap. Repeat for the other side of the roof. 3Divide

the mini flowers and berries into bouquets or clusters, twisting the stems together to secure. Glue the clusters of flowers, berries and “vines” (made from stems) to the base of the birdhouse, using our photo as a guide.

It’s an easy, inexpensive project that’s so relaxing to take your time to complete! —Jodie May at Ahandmadecottage.com.
