Want to avoid spending a lot to get your taxes prepared—but also want them done right? IRScertifi­ed volunteer tax preparers provide help at libraries, schools and other sites for free to folks who earn $54,000 or less, have disabiliti­es or are age 60 or older. To find them, call 800-9069887 or visit Irs.gov/individual­s/ free-tax-returnprep­aration-for-you-by-volunteers. And anyone can get help online or over the phone from IRS agents by calling 800-829-1040. Prepare for your call by finding out the info you’ll need at Irs.gov/help-resources/telephone-assistance.

●2 Copy and shred at no cost!

Need a copy of your tax return or to shred sensitive documents? Visit office supply stores in your area and ask if they’re offering free photocopie­s and shredding for Tax Day. Most provide these services free of charge in the weeks leading up to the tax return deadline, which is April 18th this year!

●3 Enjoy a free treat on Tax Day!

As a way to make Tax Day easier, many restaurant­s are giving away compliment­ary cake, ice cream, coffee and other treats. Tip: Tax Day is April 18th this year, but some businesses may offer deals on April 15th, which is the traditiona­l Tax Day— so read deal details carefully.
