A very special birthday surprise!

I quickly made a friend at my new job.

One day, she confided that she’d recently had health problems and fallen on hard times. She’d even had to sell her sewing machine, a graduation gift from her beloved mother, to help pay the bills. My husband has been repairing and selling sewing machines for years! When I told him about my friend, he insisted we give her one of his gently used machines. Her birthday was a few weeks later, so we put a giant bow on the sewing machine, and I brought it in to work. “Thank you!” she cried, hugging me. She is sewing again, and even made us some pillows.
