Have some Cinco de Ma

Cinco de Mayo brings parades, street festivals, singing, dancing and delicious food across North America and around the world! And you can get into the fiesta spirit by . . .

-

● Heading to a festival! One of the largest Cinco de Mayo parades in the country takes place in St. Paul, Minnesota—it even features a jalapeño-eating contest! Find out more at Cincodemayosaintpaul.com. Another festival worth checking out is in Dallas, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year with lots of authentic costumes, mariachi bands and more! Go to Oakcliffarts.org for info. Other cities that throw great fiestas: New York, San Francisco and Phoenix! Find a festival near you at Everfest.com.

Making a mini piñata! ● It’s easy! Start with two plain white paper cones (like snowcone cups). Cut the tips off the cones, then thread a ribbon through each, knotting each on the inside so it doesn’t pull all the way through. Fill one cone with candy, then tape the other to the open side. Decorate the minipiñatas with stickers and crayons. When it’s time to open, pull the ribbon and the cups will come apart! Short on time? Find small empty piñatas you can stuff with treats at party supply stores.

Enjoying a Mexican Chocolate Milkshake! ● In blender, blitz 4 cups chocolate ice cream, 1/2 cup milk, 2 tsp. ground cinnamon and 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper or more to taste. Pour into 4 large glasses. For an adult version, mix in a shot of tequila! ✤ Sipping a classic sangria! In a large pitcher, mix 1 bottle red wine, 1 cup brandy, 1/2 cup orange juice, 1 sliced orange and lemon, 1 apple, cut into wedges and a handful of cherries. Chill 2 hours. Add 1/2 bottle chilled club soda before serving.
