My Guardian Angel
When Woman’s World reader, Pam Strunk, of Merriam Woods, Missouri, asked the angels to help her grieving mother find peace, they sent a very special messenger. She writes:
It came as a big shock when my younger sister, Karen, passed away suddenly. Karen was just 19 years old and had barely started out in life. I couldn’t stop thinking about how she would never get the chance to fall in love, get married or have children. The pain of losing her was like a knife in my heart. But the loss was especially hard for our mother. She has always been close to all five of her children, and Karen was the youngest.
On the morning of the funeral, Mom couldn’t stop crying, and I doubted she’d be able to get through the service. When she went into her bedroom to get dressed, I cried out to the angels for their help.
“Please, angels, help my mom find peace. And send us a sign that Karen is happy and safe,” I pleaded.
Suddenly, our electricity went off!
When it came back on a few minutes later, Mom emerged from her room with a look of peace on her face that I will never forget, and she relayed a most amazing story.
She told us that she’d been sitting on her bed, weeping, when the lights had gone out. Suddenly, it felt as if someone sat down beside her, and she knew it was Karen. She clearly heard my sister say, “Oh Mom, don’t worry about me. I’m with the angels.” Then Karen’s presence vanished and the power came back on!
After Mom’s experience, we all had a serenity that carried us through the memorial service and rough days ahead. Though we were still filled with grief, Mom’s vision softened our worries because we knew that Karen was happy.
Later that day, I checked with our neighbors to see if their electricity had been off that morning. None of them had experienced a power failure.
With the help of angels, my sister used all of the energy in our house to visit Mom and comfort her—and the entire family— on one of the worst days of our lives.
“How like the angels to turn off the lights, so that Pam’s mom wouldn’t have any visual distractions while receiving her comforting message!” notes Doreen Virtue, PH.D. “When someone is grief-stricken (as Pam’s mother understandably was), they often can’t hear or feel the reassurance of their guardian angels. That’s when they take a more dramatic attention- getting approach, like spontaneously shutting off the electricity.
“You know that it was a true angelic visit because of the immediate calming effect that it had upon Pam’s mother and the fact that no one else in the neighborhood lost their electricity.
“Pam gave her mother the ultimate gift of reassurance, by praying for a Heavenly sign. My prayer is that Pam’s mother now knows that her beloved daughter is safely in the arms of the Heavenly angels, and that this knowledge brings her comfort.
“If you’d like a sign that a loved one is happily in Heaven, all you have to do is ask! And like they did for Pam’s mom, the angels will respond in a uniquely personalized way.
“The angels say: ‘Our hearts are fi lled with compassion and love for those who are suffering from a loss, and it is our sacred honor to bring soothing messages to heal grieving hearts.’ ”
