About 43% of us age 40 to 74 have dense breasts, which makes it harder for mammograms to detect breast cancer. Now, the Journal of Clinical Oncology reports that combining a breast ultrasound with regular mammograms, or opting for 3-D digital mammograms, detects more cancers in dense breasts.
