“Thank you for your service!”

My friend and I were waiting in a long line to order lunch at Panera Bread.

As we finally reached the cashier, I noticed two firefighters at the end of the line. I didn’t want them to wait, so I motioned for them to get ahead of us. They seemed hesitant to cut in, but then all the other customers in line spoke up, telling the firefighters, “Go ahead of us!” and “Thank you for your service!” They went to the head of the line with a round of applause! I was happy to have the chance to show some appreciation to the people who put their lives on the line for their community. It made us all feel good!
