Have Fun this Week!

It’s tulip season, and the flowers are blooming everywhere! Head to a tulip festival to take in the stunning show and enjoy a day of family fun! Here are some happening now: ● Canadian Tulip Festival: This spring festival in Ottawa is celebrating its 65th year—look for the red and white Canada 150 tulip, a gift from the Netherlands to mark Canada’s 150th anniversary! Runs May 12th to 22nd. See the blooms at Tulipfestival.ca. ● Albany Tulip Festival: This signature spring event celebrated in Albany, New York’s Washington Park has a sea of 140,000 flowers and a Royal Tulip ball! Runs May 13th and 14th. Find more info at Albanyevents.org.

Tulip Time in Holland, Michigan: ● The Dutch-settled town’s festival boasts five million blooms and features traditional food and dancing! Runs May 6th to May 14th. Go to Tuliptime.com for info. ● Enjoy tulips at home! If you can’t get to a festival, pick up tulips at your local farmers’ market or flower shop. For flowers that’ll last, pick tulips that are tightly closed with some green buds. Trim the ends about 1/4" from the bottom, fill a tall vase with cold water and flower food and don’t pack them tightly.
