1Send out invitations! Schedule the shower to be at least four weeks prior to the mom-to-be’s due date. Then head to Evite.com and Paperlesspost.com for a variety of free spring-inspired invites—like Evite’s “Sweet as Pie!” 2Pick an adorable spring theme! A special theme adds an extra-thoughtful touch to the day—and makes choosing decorations a breeze! Try . . .

✤ “Sweet as pie” What better way to welcome a new little sweetie pie than with a buffet of desserts filled with spring-fresh fruit! You can bake up a few pies yourself, ask guests to donate one or pick up some from the store— or a combo of all three! Set up a display atop a checkered tablecloth for a breezy picnic feel. And send guests off with “piecrust cookies”: Roll out a pre-made crust, cut with cookie cutters and sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 450°F for 7 minutes or until golden.

“Polka-dot darling” Pastels and polka dots are a hot spring trend! Pick a soft hue for your tablecloth and napkins, plus polka-dot paper plates to coordinate. For a fun snack, tint cream cheese with food coloring, then spread on thinsliced bread and top with cut strawberries. Create an edible centerpiece by arranging macarons or cake balls on a tiered cake plate. And for a sweet favor, pour pastel M&M’S into cellophane bags. 3Serve Strawberry Fizz Punch! Fresh strawberries give this bubbly party drink plenty of fun springtime flavor! To make: Line jellyroll pan with parchment paper. Using 1 pkg. (16 oz.) strawberries, cut each in half lengthwise through hull. Place, cut sides down, in single layer on pan; freeze until frozen, 2 hours. To assemble: In punch bowl, combine 3/4 cup lime juice, 3 Tbs. strawberry syrup and 4 tsp. strawberry extract. Just before serving, add 1 btle. (2 lt.) ginger ale, 2 limes, sliced, and frozen strawberries. Makes 12 servings. 4Surprise her with a darling “clothes cake”!
