My Guardian Angel
“Finding that plate on our anniversary was a gift from the angels!” Marilyn marvels
Your angels are always with you, every minute of every day Doreen says:
Anniversary Angel When Woman’s World reader, Marilyn E. Freeman, of Live Oak, Florida, needed consolation, her angel was there to comfort her! She writes:
When my husband, Bruce, passed away after a long battle with cancer, I was devastated. We’d been married for 49 years, and I felt lost without him.
My daughters were a great source of support, but they could not fi ll the emptiness in my heart. Also, there were many things that I had to learn how to do, things that Bruce had always taken care of, such as income taxes and banking.
An avid reader of Woman’s World, my favorite column has always been “My Guardian Angel.” Through the stories, I had thankfully learned to ask my angels for guidance.
A couple of months before my husband died, he lost a ring that I had given him years earlier. He cherished the ring, but during his illness, he lost so much weight that it would sometimes slip off his fi nger.
One day, he went grocery shopping and stopped at the pharmacy. When he arrived back home, he noticed his ring was gone!
We went to both the stores. We scoured every aisle and even checked in the veggie and fruit bins. No ring!
Heartbroken, Bruce called the stores often to see if anyone had turned it in, but no one had. Several times, we checked each drawer in his dresser. We searched everywhere but never found it.
One morning, after his funeral, I was feeling particularly low and asked the angels to let me know if Bruce was still with me. Later that day, I found myself searching for something, and I looked in Bruce’s top dresser drawer—and was shocked to fi nd his missing ring! The angels had answered my request!
And that’s not all. When our wedding anniversary arrived, I was overwhelmed with sadness, so I asked the angels for another sign. A few minutes later, my daughter called and asked me to go thrift shopping. As she looked through some china, I decided to help, and reached up to the top shelf to take down a dish. When I looked at it, I could not believe my eyes. It was an anniversary plate!
The inscription read: A happy, loving time, a sentimental time, Remembering now the precious moments, Wishing now for future joys! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
I showed the plate to my daughter, saying, “I asked Dad for a sign, and this is what he gave me.” “Of course,” she said. “He’s your guardian angel.”
With tears flowing, I purchased the plate, knowing that my daughter was right. My husband really was watching over me!

And the anniversary plate was such a perfect message for Marilyn. I’m so glad that she bought that plate so she could be reminded of Bruce’s love during lonely moments.
