“We brought her a taste of the fair!” My family was going to the Ohio State Fair for the first time.

I hired a car service to take us, since no one wanted to make the 45-minute drive. On our way there, the driver excitedly told us about all the rides, events and food we shouldn’t miss, especially the lemon shake-ups (the fair’s signature lemonade). “They’re my favorite,” she sighed. “But since I’m working all summer, I can’t go to the fair this year.” So when she picked us up at the end of our fun-filled day, I handed her a lemon shake-up! She was so surprised! “Thank you for being so thoughtful!” she said, as she happily sipped her tangy drink! —Karin Capri, Marysville, OH

“He paid for my gas!” I was driving to my daughter’s home in South Carolina when I stopped to get gas.

But when I tried to swipe my credit card, it wouldn’t go through. Then I realized that I had forgotten to let the credit-card company know that I was traveling—and now my account had probably been frozen! At that moment I felt panicked. A man came over and asked me if I was okay. After I explained what happened, he offered to pay for my gas! When I tried to get his name and address to send him the money, he wouldn’t tell me! “That’s not necessary ma’am,” he said. “Have a good trip!” I believe he was an angel! —Donna Mellott, Chambersburg, PA “I’m passing along the kindness!” I was grocery shopping when I found coupons left on shelves near several items I needed. Someone had put them there for whoever might need them—and I definitely needed them! I was happy to save money on my grocery bill and touched by this thoughtful act of kindness! I smile whenever I find these coupons at my grocery store, thinking of the kind person who leaves them. I’ve now started leaving coupons on shelves, too, hoping to help someone else. I’m passing along coupons of kindness! —June Mcfarland, Cambridge, OH Do you have an act of kindness to share?
