12 donuts 24 almonds 10 oz. white candy melts 2 oz. black candy melts Pink powdered food coloring Sprinkles

Make (or buy) 12 of your favorite donuts. Using a small paring knife, cut two slits into top of each donut. Insert 1 almond into each slit, turning slightly to widen cut. Melt your white candy melts. Dip wide end of your almonds into the melted candy and secure them in the slits you just cut. Dip top of each donut into white candy melts, making sure almond ears are completely covered. Sprinkle bottom half of each donut with sprinkles immediately. Once the white candy melt coating has hardened, melt black candy melts. Pour melted candy melts into a piping bag and cut a very small hole in end. Pipe mouth, eyes and whiskers. Use leftover melted white candy melts to embellish eyes. Once candy coating has hardened, brush a little pink powdered food coloring on cheek areas. Makes 12 donuts.

Once you dip your donuts in the candy, gently tap the bottoms against the counter until the candy smooths out. If your candy melts are too thick, you can add a little shortening and heat for an additional 15 seconds to thin Claire Tollefsen of Thesimple-sweetlife.com
