COOKIES 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1 cup Land O Lakes® butter, at room temperature 1 cup granulated sugar 1 egg 2 Tbs. orange juice 1 Tbs. vanilla extract FROSTING 1/3 cup Land O Lakes® butter, at room temperature 3 cups confectioners’ sugar 1 tsp. vanilla extract 1-2 Tbs. milk Food coloring, optional Assorted sprinkles and decorations, optional
Cookies: Combine flour and baking powder; reserve. In large bowl, on medium speed, beat butter, sugar and egg until creamy and blended. Add orange juice and vanilla; beat until blended. On low, gradually beat in flour mixture until combined. Divide dough into thirds. Shape each third into ball; flatten slightly. Wrap each in plastic wrap; refrigerate 2-3 hours until firm.
Preheat oven to 400°F. On lightly floured surface, roll out dough, 1 ball at a time, to 1/8"-1/4" thickness, keeping remaining dough refrigerated. Using assorted 2"-3" flower-shaped cookie cutters, cut out shapes. Place 1" apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake 6-10 minutes or until just beginning to brown around edges. Let stand 1 minute on baking sheet; transfer to rack. Cool completely.
Frosting: On medium speed, beat butter until creamy. On low, gradually beat in confectioners’ sugar, then vanilla until blended. Gradually beat in enough milk for desired spreading consistency. If desired, tint with food coloring. Frost and decorate cookies as desired. Makes 18 cookies.
