3 Make it a “craft potluck”!

To save money, ask guests to bring a terra-cotta saucer or shallow bowl to use as a container, plus a specific craft supply such as soil, faux gems or a few pieces of dollhouse furniture. At a garden center, buy a small flat of low-lying plants for guests to share. Mosses, mini ferns, succulents, ground cover plants and dwarf junipers work well. Finally, raid your garage, sewing box and kids’ rooms for embellishments, such as marbles, seashells, flag picks, twigs and faux flowers!
