Start a family tradition by displaying this cute birthday centerpiec­e for everyone’s special day— you can make it yourself with a work glove!

1 Cover box with cardstock. Glue ribbon 1" below top; add bow. Add birthday sticker stuck to white paper. Fill box halfway with fiberfill.

2 Enlarge patterns (below, right) at 300%. From cream foam cut 6 arms, 2 wings, 4 dime-size circles for bear and mouse ears and 2 (3/8") triangle cat ears. Cut 3/8" orange beak, 2 black dog ears, tiny pink cat’s nose and 2 (3/4" square) pink squares for mouse hands. From felt, cut 4 (1"x3/4") oval tummies, 2 tan, 1 white dime-size muzzle circles; punch 2 each pink and tan inner ear circles.

3 Stuff glove fingers with fiberfill; paint as shown. Paint wings blue, arms to match dog, cat and bear. Tie cord around necks 1 1/2" from top.

4 Chalk cheeks; glue on features as shown. Draw marker smiles and paws. Cut paper hats. Tape into cones; add pompoms; glue on. Place glove in box. Glue thumb to front; side animals to sides; add fiberfill as needed.

5 Glue on wings and arms. Mouse arms: Snip 3 cuts on one side of each 3/4" pink foam square. Glue each around one end of a 2" gray chenille stem. Wrap remaining 2" stems around foam at base; glue on.

6 Cut 6 foam balloons. Glue 4 to 4" white chenille stems; glue to hands. Glue 2 to 9" stems; glue to box in back. Cover fiberfill with tissue paper; add ribbon curls.
