Woman's World

7 Days of Inspiration

When Woman’s World reader Carolyn Lane of Rising Fawn, Georgia, was in a car accident, her angel came to help. She writes:

-

One morning, while driving to my daughter’s house for brunch, it began to rain. I slowed down and drove very carefully, but the road became very slick and, suddenly, I lost control of my car.

“No!” I cried, as my vehicle left the road and slid across an embankment of rocks, causing it to go airborne!

As the car flipped over and over again, I prayed, “God, help me!” At last, my car landed on the other side of the road with the hood up and the passenger door ripped off.

Having hit my head on the windshield several times during the ordeal, I was dazed. But seeing smoke billowing from the engine, I hurried to get out before the car caught fire.

When I opened my door, there stood a very tall, pale, thin young man with red hair. He lightly touched my arm.

“He lightly touched my arm, and I instantly felt calm,” Carolyn says

“You’re in shock and need to remain still,” he said. “The radiator hose is broken, but your car won’t catch on fire.”

He told me that medics would arrive soon and that I would be all right.

Amazingly, I instantly felt relaxed and peaceful. “Who are you?” I asked. “Mitchell,” he replied. I liked him immediately. I wanted to call my husband, but the items in my purse, including my cellphone, had been strewn all over the car.

As though reading my mind, Mitchell handed me a phone, and I called my husband, who said he was on his way. While we waited, I asked Mitchell if he lived nearby.

He shook his head. “I’m not from around here. I don’t pass this way very often.”

What a wonderfully odd young man, I thought, as Mitchell continued to speak to me in pleasant tones.

A few minutes passed, and I heard the wheels of a car crunching against the gravel road. As the vehicle approached, Mitchell said, “It’s your husband.”

Turning to look, I saw he was right. But how could he have known? I hadn’t told him what kind of car my husband drove. I glanced up to thank Mitchell for staying with me —but he was gone. When my husband came around to my side of the car, I asked if he had seen the young man who had stayed with me until he arrived. But he said he hadn’t seen anyone. By this time, the ambulance and state patrol had arrived. I was taken to the ER and released with no serious injuries.

When the police officer said I was lucky to have survived, I re- alized that God had heard my prayer and sent an angel named Mitchell to comfort me while I waited for help. Even now, when I think of him, I whisper, “Thanks, Mitchell!”

“I always admire people like Carolyn, who— during a terrifying moment—have the presence of mind to pray for help,” says Doreen Virtue, PH.D. “Most people would scream or hold their breath in fright. But Carolyn asked for help, and Heaven answered!

“God often sends angels in human form to help us. I’ve noticed that these helpful stranger angels are often unusual in appearance and mannerism. It’s because, as Mitchell explained, they’re ‘not from around here.’

Carolyn experienced a miracle in many ways, and I’m glad she was kept safe.”
