1 Berries baby your heart!

Enjoying just a half- cup of blueberries or strawberries three times a week can slash your risk of heart disease as much as 32%, shows Harvard research. “Berries are particularly rich in antioxidants, which fight heart- and brain-harming inflammation,” explains neurologist Majid Fotuhi, M.D., PH.D., a lecturer at Harvard Medical School.

2 Grapes whittle your middle!

Having a handful of grapes four times a week staves off middle-age spread, reveals a new BMJ journal study of more than 124,000 adults. In addition to being low in calories, grapes pack lots of special phytochemicals called flavonoids that help burn fat and calories, scientists theorize. Tip: Frozen grapes make a refreshing Popsicle-like treat on hot summer days!

3 Pomegranates keep you sharp!

Their antioxidants slow the development of Alzheimer’s disease, a recent British study found. One reason: They help your gut make anti-inflammatory compounds called urolithins, which reduce inflammation in the brain—a key to keeping neurons healthy at every age.

4 Apples beat bloat!

Just eating an apple a day helped women lose about three pounds in 12 weeks— and they had flatter bellies than women who lost a similar amount of weight on an apple-free diet. The pectin and fiber in apples keep you fuller longer and keep you regular.

5 Pink grapefruit stops wrinkles!

The pink pigment lycopene helps thwart sun damage. Plus, a medium grapefruit delivers 60% of your RDA for vitamin C, needed to build skin-plumping, wrinkle-fighting collagen.
