Falling for the Easter Bunny

When Dana visits her sister and her niece for Easter, she never imagined that a handsome Easter Bunny would make her swoon

What can I do to help?” Dana asked her sister, Robin. “Check the buffet. Is there room for the chili and other dishes?”

“How many neighbors are expected?”

Robin began ticking off names. “Oh, and Bob.” “Bob?” “A new neighbor. He’ll be playing the Easter Bunny at our egg hunt.”

The doorbell chimed. Dana’s niece, Mel, as most 6-year-olds do, tromped toward the door. “Hi, Mr. Hudson.”

A deep voice resonated. Delight slipped up Dana’s spine. Was there such a thing as love at f irst sound?

Robin whispered in Dana’s ear. “Not a word about Bob being the Easter Bunny. I want Mel to believe in the magic as long as possible.”

“How can she not? We still believe.” Robin stripped off her apron. “Blame Dad. Now he’s all in as the grandpa who carries on traditions of believing in the unbelievable into adulthood.”

“We’re lucky to have him and so is Mel. Remember our childhood magic? Santa, the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny—all a glorious mystery. The truth saddened me.”

Clutching Bob’s hand, Mel dragged him over. “Aunt Dana, this is my friend, Mr. Hudson.” Dropping his hand and placing her hands on her hips, Mel gazed up at the t wo. “You should hug. Then you can get married.”

“Mel, what did I say about talking before thinking,” Robin scolded.

“But Mommy, you said Aunt Dana would like Mr. Hudson.”

Heat infused Dana’s cheeks. She refrained from fanning herself, bit her lip and held out her hand.

When Bob’s warm hand shook hers, it felt like a bolt of lightning zigging through her. Between Mel’s matchmaking attempts and Robin’s scolding, Dana raised a brow. Bob leaned in. His dreamy bergamot and honey scent swirled, charming her senses.

“No worries. I teach kindergarten. Every kid tries to set me up.” He winked.

She hung on to the table, before she slipped beneath in a swoon.
