Woman’s World reader Mary Flugaur was grieving the loss of her sister when she received a special sign that her sister was still near. She writes:

While I love all seven of my siblings, I always had a special relationship with my oldest sister, Kathy. She was my best friend. Unfortunately, she passed away on April 1, 2023. 3. This really devasstated me.

Her passing was sudden and shocking, and the cause being unknown made it even harder for everyone to receive closure. On top of this, due to her wishes, there was no funeral. She was cremated and the urn with her ashes placed on her f ireplace mantel.

A couple of months after losing her, during the f irst week of July, I noticed a bird had landed on the outside ledge of the porch of my condo. I didn’t think much of it—until it came back a day later.

What kind of bird is that?

I wondered. Looking at it, I suddenly thought it might be a mourning dove. If so, I felt like this had to be signif icant in some way, so I researched it on the internet.

To my surprise, I discovered that it was a mourning dove.

pyReading on, I learned that some bird lovers report a feeling of comfort when a mourning dove visits. Others believe that it’s a message from a loved one or reminder of someone who wh is no longer present in your you life but is missed and remembered. The name mourning dove refers to the distinctive, sorrowful “coo” the bird makes.

I knew right then and there that this mourning dove was my sister visiting me and giving me a message of love, hope and peace.

The mourning dove continued to visit and, if I wasn’t close to the window when it landed, I’d watch as the bird’s eyes scanned the room through the window with its neck moving from side to side to get a better view as if looking for me.

Since this mourning dove has visited me, I have felt a sense of comfort, and I truly believe my sister sent it to me specif ically for that reason.

“She was giving me a message of love, hope and peace!”

ANGEL EXPERT SUNNY DAWN JOHNSTON SAYS…

“Mary’s experience with a mourning dove following her sister Kathy’s sudden passing is a deeply moving testament to the enduring connections between the living and those who have moved on to the afterlife. In many cultures, mourning doves are seen as messengers from the spiritual realm, their melancholic coos believed to carry messages of love and reassurance from beyond. And for Mary, the repeated visits from this dove did just that. It became a symbol of her sister’s continued presence and a source of solace during a time of deep grief.”
