The Fragrance Foundation will honor Givaudan chief executive officer Gilles Andrier with its 2024 Hall of Fame Award.

The honor will be presented at this year's Fragrance Foundation awards on June 5 at Lincoln Center in New York City.

“Gilles Andrier is an exemplary, purpose-driven leader whose strategic vision and passion for the fragrance industry is evident in everything he does," said Linda G. Levy, president of The Fragrance Foundation, in a statement.

“He has been at the forefront of driving sustainability and diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives within his organization, building community and bridging business goals with love for nature."

During Andrier's 30-plus year tenure at Givaudan — 19 of which he has spent as CEO — the Swiss fragrance and flavors supplier has seen significant growth.

Last year, the company launched a wellness-driven fragrance creation platform called Well & Be, aiming to delve deeper into the connection between mood and scent. Givaudan also acquired Amyris' sugarcane-derived squalane, among other ingredients, from the California-based biotechnology player.

Net income at the Vernier, Switzerlandbased company in 2023 rose 4.3 percent on-year to 893 million Swiss francs, up from 856 million in 2022, while company sales were down 2.8 percent in local currency and up 4.1 percent on a comparable basis to 6.9 billion francs.

"This award pays tribute to everyone at Givaudan for their creativity, passion and contribution to our wonderful fine fragrance industry,” Andrier said in a statement. “Being part of this beautiful industry, one of artistry and craftsmanship coupled with innovation, has profoundly impacted my life; the power of fragrances to evoke emotions, to stir memories and to bring joy to people's lives is an enduring contribution that we can all be proud of.”

Last year's Hall of Fame Award honoree was Nicolas Hieronimus, chief executive officer of L'Oréal.
