AG Jumps Into the Activewear Space

- — LUIS CAMPUZANO

Premium denim label AG is joining the athleisure race with the release of its first active capsule collection with styles designed for the everyday commuter lifestyle, the sport- loving crowd and for those who crave comfort.

“There’s been a shift in the men’s market probably since COVID[- 19] with men’s clothing becoming more comfortable and versatile,” said Ron Balatbat, men’s design director for AG. “Also, based on the success of AG’s more activefriendly men’s styles like the Tellis Airluxe Commuter performance pants and Bryce performance polos, we decided to push further into the active lifestyle category.”

The capsule collection will feature pieces such as short- sleeve performance polos; lightweight crewneck Ts with quick- drying performance jersey; slim-fit performance shorts including a trunk version in a beach- ready performance fabric; a bomber jacket that serves as a layering piece, and a lightweight jogger in a slim- cut style equipped with an elasticized waistband.

Embracing its knowledge within the denim space, the jeanswear giant is also releasing an updated version of the Tellis denim jean with an athletic spin that still features the five- pocket fit and AG’s signature modern slim aesthetic.

The capsule collection incorporates performance fabrics that have special technical properties including quick- dry properties, moisture-wicking fibers and hybrid stretch for comfort, making them lightweight, breathable, durable and easy to care for.

Pricing for the capsule will range from $ 98 to $ 295 and it is available for purchase now at the brand’s e- commerce site as well as AG retail stores.
