Riva’s flagship Mythos 122 was awarded Best Motoryacht in the 100-footplus category at the 2014 Editors’ Choice awards presented by AIM Media. Designed by Mauro Micheli, the Mythos 122 [September/ October 2014 issue] was constructed at the Ferretti Group’s CRN shipyard with an eye toward reducing negative environmental impact, which helped earn her RINA’s Green Plus class notation.
Chosen by the editors of the AIM Marine Group, the Editors’ Choice awards highlight boatbuilding achievement in a number of categories. Winner selection is based on innovation of design, quality of construction and hands-on testing. The event was sponsored by Everglades Boats, AIG, BMW, Vetus Maxwell, NYY Steakhouse and Rums of Puerto Rico.
“Boaters value their time on the water more than ever,” said AIM Marine Group Publisher Gary DeSanctis. “So to find the glimmers of gold—examples of true groundbreaking innovation that’s well-executed—and then share them with our audience of serious boaters across all categories … that’s the goal.”
“Creative design has to be built to make a difference,” said George Sass Jr., editorial director of the AIM Marine Group and editor-in-chief of Motoryacht. “We’ve seen all of these boats perform in their element. That’s what sets them apart.” Winners of the 60-feet-plus and innovation categories were: Best Passagemaker—Marlow 62E (60-79 feet), Outer Reef 860 CPMY (80-99 feet), Nordhavn 120 (100+); Best Sportfishing Boat—Viking 92 (60+); Best Motoryacht— Coastal Craft 65 Concord (60-69 feet), Princess S72 (70-79 feet), Monte Carlo 86 (80-89 feet), Azimut 95 Grande (90-99 feet), Riva 122 Mythos (100+); Most Innovative New Technology—Furuno First Watch Wireless Radar. Nearly 700 guests attended the AIM Marine Group’s signature Disco and Desserts soirée at Fort Lauderdale’s Tranquilo Hotel, with special entertainment by Nashville recording artist Ciara Rae. Sponsored by Everglades Boats, AIG, NYY Steakhouse, Rums of Puerto Rico and BMW, the Saturday Night Fever-themed event treated guests to an evening of classic hits from the disco era, creative libations and desserts galore.
