Riva Grabs Top Hon­ors at AIM Ed­i­tors’ Choice Awards

Riva’s flag­ship Mythos 122 was awarded Best Mo­to­ry­acht in the 100-foot­plus cat­e­gory at the 2014 Ed­i­tors’ Choice awards pre­sented by AIM Me­dia. De­signed by Mauro Micheli, the Mythos 122 [Septem­ber/ Oc­to­ber 2014 is­sue] was con­structed at the Ferretti Group’s CRN ship­yard with an eye to­ward re­duc­ing neg­a­tive en­vi­ron­men­tal im­pact, which helped earn her RINA’s Green Plus class no­ta­tion.

Cho­sen by the ed­i­tors of the AIM Marine Group, the Ed­i­tors’ Choice awards high­light boat­build­ing achieve­ment in a num­ber of cat­e­gories. Win­ner se­lec­tion is based on in­no­va­tion of de­sign, qual­ity of con­struc­tion and hands-on test­ing. The event was spon­sored by Ever­glades Boats, AIG, BMW, Ve­tus Maxwell, NYY Steak­house and Rums of Puerto Rico.

“Boaters value their time on the wa­ter more than ever,” said AIM Marine Group Pub­lisher Gary DeSanc­tis. “So to find the glim­mers of gold—ex­am­ples of true ground­break­ing in­no­va­tion that’s well-ex­e­cuted—and then share them with our au­di­ence of se­ri­ous boaters across all cat­e­gories … that’s the goal.”

“Cre­ative de­sign has to be built to make a dif­fer­ence,” said George Sass Jr., ed­i­to­rial di­rec­tor of the AIM Marine Group and ed­i­tor-in-chief of Mo­to­ry­acht. “We’ve seen all of th­ese boats per­form in their el­e­ment. That’s what sets them apart.” Win­ners of the 60-feet-plus and in­no­va­tion cat­e­gories were: Best Pas­sage­maker—Mar­low 62E (60-79 feet), Outer Reef 860 CPMY (80-99 feet), Nord­havn 120 (100+); Best Sport­fish­ing Boat—Vik­ing 92 (60+); Best Mo­to­ry­acht— Coastal Craft 65 Con­cord (60-69 feet), Princess S72 (70-79 feet), Monte Carlo 86 (80-89 feet), Az­imut 95 Grande (90-99 feet), Riva 122 Mythos (100+); Most In­no­va­tive New Tech­nol­ogy—Fu­runo First Watch Wire­less Radar. Nearly 700 guests at­tended the AIM Marine Group’s sig­na­ture Disco and Desserts soirée at Fort Laud­erdale’s Tran­quilo Ho­tel, with spe­cial en­ter­tain­ment by Nashville record­ing artist Ciara Rae. Spon­sored by Ever­glades Boats, AIG, NYY Steak­house, Rums of Puerto Rico and BMW, the Satur­day Night Fever-themed event treated guests to an evening of clas­sic hits from the disco era, cre­ative li­ba­tions and desserts galore.
