Wellton Chevron robbed at gunpoint
Wellton police are searching for the suspect who robbed the Chevron station, located at 28864 Commerce Way, at gunpoint Wednesday evening and stole an undisclosed amount of money and one of the clerk’s vehicles.
Sgt. David Rodriguez, wrote in a press release that surveillance camera footage showed the suspect, described as a Hispanic male, wearing a light colored jacket with a dark tshirt and blue jeans enter the store.
Once inside the store, the suspect grabbed a sports drink and walked over to the register, where he asked the cashier for a pack of cigarettes.
As the clerk turned around to grab the cigarettes, the suspect pulled the gun from behind his back and pointed it at the clerk. He then demanded cash and the keys to the clerk’s vehicle.
After the clerk gave the robber an undisclosed amount of money and the keys, he ordered both cashiers to lie down on the ground.
He then fled the store and stole the clerk’s truck described as a Black 1991 Chevrolet Silverado long bed with Arizona plate AZD9312. No one was injured in the incident.
According to Wellton Police, the robber is about 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet in height, with brown eyes and black or dark hair, weighing approximately 160-170 pounds.
