Ida Lee Valdez Higuera

Ida Lee Valdez of Mesa, Arizona entered eternal life on March 11, 2017. She was the third of nine children born to Mary and Nacho Higuera of Yuma, Arizona. She is survived by her three stepchildr­en: Betty Ann Valdez of Price, Utah, Larry Valdez of Utah and Joseph Valdez also from Utah, 27 grandchild­ren and 7 great grandchild­ren; her two sisters Mary Ann Heald Higuera of Turlock, California and Pauline Murphy Higuera of Mesa, Arizona; three brothers Hank Higuera of San Diego, California, Paul Higuera of Yuma, Arizona and Patrick Higuera of Mesa, Arizona, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepson Dickie Valdez, sisters Eloise Wise Higuera and Margaret McNamara Higuera, and brother John (Buddy) Higuera. Ida attended Immaculate Conception Elementary School and Yuma Union High School. She attended Eastern Arizona College where she earned her nursing degree. Ida Lee had a passion for helping people as she worked for Magma Hospital in Superior, Florence, and Mesa, Arizona. Ida was a student of life; she loved reading, learning, her family, cooking (tamales), and her nieces’ sweet dog Honey. Ida will be missed by everyone. Visitation will be held on Friday March 17, 2017 at 10AM and services will be at 11:30AM at Johnson’s Chapel. Burial following service will be at Desert Lawn in the Garden of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
