AWC board to meet in South County

The governing board of Arizona Western College will meet at 9 a.m. Thursday at the San Luis Learning Center.

The presiding member, according to the agenda, will be Olivia Zepeda, who is the assistant superinten­dent of Gadsden School District, the district in which the learning center is located.

Board members will hear a Faculty Senate report from Lee Altman. Junior Castro is set to give the Classified Associatio­n update, and Mary Kay Harton will introduce Student Government Associatio­n South County representa­tive Daniel Famania, who will give the student government report. The new Associate Dean of South County, Susie Zambrano, and Vice President for Learning Services Linda Elliott-Nelson will announce the student of the month.

Human Resources Director Kari Gardner will present candidates for contractua­l positions for the board’s approval and also speak about unfilled positions. Director of Financial Services and Controller Diana Doucette will seek the board’s approval to purchase network equipment and to pay the college’s vouchers.

Dean of Public Relations and Marketing Lori Stofft will update the board on the strategic planning process, which will include seeking input from Yuma and La Paz county residents at a symposium on April 28. Vice President for Student Services Bryan Doak will give the board a report on his de- partment and Elliott-Nelson and Zambrano will go over progress in learning services in south Yuma County.

The next regular meeting of the board will be 3 p.m. Monday, April 17, at the Yuma campus in the Frances Morris Boardroom. Meeting times and dates are subject to change.
