Highway 95 work could create delays

Construction area is just north of Yuma Proving Ground

- FROM STAFF REPORTS

A pavement-preservation project on Highway 95 just north of the Yuma Proving Ground could cause delays for drivers who use the roadway between Quartzsite and Interstate 8, beginning Wednesday. However, travel between the Yuma area and the proving ground should not be affected.

The Arizona Department of Transportation is set to begin the three-week project on 10 miles of Highway 95 between mileposts 70 and 80. Work is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday until April 19. As always, schedules are subject to change because of weather or other unforeseen factors.

Highway 95 will be narrowed to one lane only while work occurs in halfmile increments. Flaggers will guide motorists through the open travel lane.

The speed limit in the active work zone will be reduced to 45 mph. Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment.

Unscheduled changes to the project might occur because of weather or other factors.
