For the week of March 19-25, the Yuma Fire Department responded to 284 emergency calls, including:
• 7 general fire response
Including: 2 for the smell of natural gas in home, 1 trailer fire started by unattended cooking, 1 small brush fire, 1 palm tree fire, and 1 transformer fire with live wires down.
• 3 mutual aid
Including: Called to assist with 3 medical emergencies in the county.
• 26 motor vehicle crashes
Including: 2 involving pedestrians, 1 involving 3 vehicles, 1 involving a bicycle, 2 involving motorcycles, 1 involving a rollover, and 1 involving a person trapped in a vehicle.
• 227 other medical emergencies (serious to minor)
Including: 29 difficulty breathing, 21 chest pain, 41 falls, 11 unconscious people, 11 seizure cases, 2 possible stroke cases, 7 intoxicated persons, 1 person under the influence of drugs, 11 people with psychiatric problems, 3 heat illness, 4 medical alarms, 2 children locked in vehicles, 1 allergic reaction, 1 choking, 12 altered or decreased level of consciousness, 1 fever, 2 broken bones, 5 diabetic emergencies, 1 dog bite, 1 spider bite, 1 unknown bite, 6 man down calls, 3 bad headaches, 1 stabbing, 1 poisoning (2-year-old drank bleach), 2 assaults, 4 back pain, 8 abdominal pain, 3 pregnancy related, 1 alcohol withdrawal, 1 laceration, and other illnesses and injuries.

Including: 2 snake removals, 1 brush fire at West Wetlands, 1 person stuck in elevator, 3 vehicle fires, 1 power line down, 1 power pole arcing, 1 propane tank on fire, 1 juvenile playing in a canal, and various alarms.
