The governing board of Yuma Union High School District will consider student fees for the 2017-2018 school year at its regular monthly meeting at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Yuma High School cafeteria.

The school is located at 400 S. 6th Ave. The board is meeting at the school as the new district administration offices are slated to begin soon at the current site on Avenue A. The meeting will be open to the public, with the exception of any executive session during which the board may consult with its attorney for legal counsel. Executive session discussions are not open to the public, however, all board decisions will be made in the open public meeting.

The board will also recognize and honor its Teacher of the Year nominees, Arizona State University interns and co-op teachers; and Julie Rodriguez, director for education services for the Yuma County Education Services Agency.

Board members will also consider approving a list of hard-to-staff positions for the 2017-2018 school year for the district’s referral payment program.

The board will be updated on bond projects at Kofa High School, where construction is slated to begin in May on remodeling old classrooms. A new auxiliary gym and new career and technical education classrooms are also planned, as is additional parking and extensions to other classrooms.

Under its consent agenda, in which routine items such as the payment of vouchers and renewal of purchasing contracts are approved with one motion, the board will also consider approving an amendment to the architectural services contract with the DLR Group.

The student councils of Kofa, San Luis and Yuma high schools will present current events updates from their respective schools.

The next regular meeting of the board will be at 5:15 p.m. May 10 in the City Council Chambers, 1 City Plaza.

Information regarding agenda items may be reviewed in the district administrative offices prior to the meeting.
