A little spring cleaning

-

On Earth Day Saturday, volunteers from across the city gathered for the Day of Unity community cleanup in an effort to better the Yuma area. The cleanup was held by Mayor Doug Nicholls and other officials as part of the city’s United for Yuma campaign. According to Nicholls, over 150 volunteers helped clean various neighborhoods, public spaces, park areas and homes of residents who are elderly, disabled or otherwise unable to clean their yard and home exteriors. “I think this kind of day is just indicative of Yuma and the kind of community we are for working together and trying to make it better for everyone,” Nicholls said at Saturday’s cleanup. “I think that is what today is about.”
