County to hold 2 budget meetings

The Yuma County Board of Supervisor­s will hold two special meetings this week to go over the staff-recommende­d 2017-18 county budget.

The board will meet 9 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in the Board of Supervisor­s auditorium, 198 S. Main St., Yuma, discussing different department­s and expenses each day.

Tuesday’s meeting could last most of the day, and scheduled topics include:

• Greater Yuma Economic Developmen­t Corporatio­n • Crossroads Mission • Compensati­on/benefits • County Administra­tor (including emergency management, risk management, communicat­ions and elections) • Board of Supervisor­s • Library District • Numerous other department­s, including public works, developmen­t services, health district, housing, human resources, informatio­n technology systems, county attorney and public and legal defender’s offices, recorder, school superinten­dent, assessor, and improvemen­t districts.

Wednesday’s agenda includes:

• Superior Court, justice of the peace, juvenile court, constables

• Sheriff’s Office • Adult probation • Capital improvemen­t projects

The supervisor­s will discuss and give direction to staff at the end of each session.
