It took 17 years for Ricky Good and Ronnie Gallegos to win the Jimmie Dee’s Annual Golf Invitation­al. Their winning score of net 59 edged out the teams of Geoff Nance with Jeff Hoppie, and Chris Karvoski with Craig Barrows by one shot. Katie Steen and Rene Dillon dominated the Women’s competitio­n, winning low net and low gross. Brent Wolfe and Steve Baillet of Phoenix defeated the Tucson team of Jonas Mentjox and Rich Parzich in a pool-ball putt-off to win low gross with a 63.

Perry Pensky and Peter Sterenberg posted a gross best-ball score of 68 to tie the teams of Mark and Nick Pancrazi, and Erick and Steve Stechman in the gross division of the Country Club’s annual May tournament on Friday morning. Erick and Steve Stechman also posted a best-ball net score of 57 to lead the net division two strokes better than the team of Joe Catanzaro and Daniel Durham.

The Big Cup 4-Person Scramble will be played at Mesa del Sol on May 20, and the format includes women’s, men’s and mixed divisions. The half-golf, half games of skill competitio­n uses eight-inch cups and includes events such as the softball par 3, sledgehamm­er putt, bag-over-head drive, corn-hole toss, and basketball free throw competitio­ns. A DJ will be on hand before and after entertainm­ent along with hosted beverages. Call 928-580-2888 to sign up.

Sandra Lee posted a net score of 33 to win the Mesa Del Sol first flight “Selected Holes” play April 27. Nancy Holmes had a net score of 36 for second place, and Linda Scott was the thirdplace finisher. In the second flight, Phyllis Mashburn and Joann Sandstede were tied for first place with a net score of 38, and Carol Roland took third place with a net 40 score. Sue Morganthal­er carded plus-11 quota points to win first place in the Monday quota play at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course. Joann Sandstede was at plus-10 points for second place, and Carol Roland, Mary Ann Muldoon and Wayne Gunion were tied for third place at plus-8.

Sheila Koch was the winner of the DHWG “Ace of the Month” play at the Desert Hills Golf Course on Tuesday morning. The flight winners were Gloria Gentry (first place), Heather Comeau (second place) and Trish Steffey (third place). The KP winners were Gloria Gentry and Bette McGrath.

Steve Martin teamed with Peggy Quinn, Jim Flood and Donna Morris for a scrambling 6-under 66 to win the Moose Lodge play Wednesday at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course. Second place went to the team of Tom Mcintire, Keith Swearingen, Maxine Gatti and Loretta Holland with a 69. The third-place finishers were John Coffey, Bud Hammond, Evelyn Pribble and Carol Johnson with a team score of 70.

The next Desert Hills Men’s Golf Associatio­n monthly tournament will be a two-person, best-ball format and will be played at the Desert Hills Golf Course on Saturday with tee-times starting at 8 a.m. Members may contact Bruce Clark at 92-580-6436 for entry or additional informatio­n.

Steve Parrish and Henry Browning were tied for first place in Pinky’s Pick play at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course on Wednesday, with Marilyn Cotter taking third place and Carol Roland fourth. The skin winners were Henry Browning, Raymond “Pinky” Throckmort­on, Bill Slade, David Henager, Pam Herring and Mary Ann Muldoon.

In the Mesa del Sol Men’s Twilight League play, Greg Maehling and Brandon Cushman won the modified designated-driver combined net total with a 68. Robert Gomez and Jeff Buffmyer were second at 72. Mike Walters, Doug Thompson and Chris Corbet are tied for lead in the Spring Season Points race. Next week’s event is a two-man, how-low-can-yougo, multiple-mulligan, netbest-ball on the back nine. Play begins at 5 p.m.

Tiffany Humer and Sue Johnson posted a net bestball score of 30 to win the Mesa Del Sol 9-hole ladies Twilight League play Tuesday. Barb Sanders and Pam Herring were one stroke back for second place. Tiffany Humer was the KP winner on the fifth hole, and Phyllis Mashburn was the long-drive winner on the sixth hole. The next event is Tuesday at 5 p.m for nine holes of golf. Food is provided. The league plays a different format each week and all handicaps are welcome. The $20 entry fee includes ninehole greens fee, prize fund and food. Call or stop by the pro shop to sign up.

Sam Samples carried Henry Browning to a firstplace finish in the Mesa Del Sol Friday team play. with Roger Brown and Bill Slade in second and Marilyn Cotter and Jack Parker in third.

The Annual Yuma City Championsh­ip will be played at the Desert Hills Golf Course from May 2729. This year, there will be flight divisions for men and women players. All players may contact the pro shop at 928-373-5220 for entry or additional informatio­n.
