Fire House Facts
From May 7-13, the Yuma Fire Department responded to 233 emergency calls, including:
• 8 general fire response
Including: 1 air conditioning unit smoking on house, 1 bathroom ventilation fan fire in an apartment (burning unit fell from ceiling into toilet, extinguishing fire), smoking light fixture in building, and various alarms.
• 1 mutual aid
Including: Assisted Imperial County (along with other firefighting agencies) with a brush fire along the Colorado River that for a time was endangering 4th Avenue Bridge and I-8.
• 15 motor vehicle crashes
Including: 2 involving pedestrians, 1 involving a building, 1 involving a motorcycle, 1 involving a bicycle, and 1 involving a YCAT bus.
• 196 other medical emergencies (serious-minor)
Including: 29 difficulty breathing, 17 chest pain, 17 falls, 13 unconscious people, 11 seizure cases, 5 possible stroke cases, 3 intoxicated persons, 1 person under the influence of drugs, 4 drug overdoses, 15 for people with psychiatric problems, 1 heat illness/dehydration, 4 medical alarms, 3 for a child locked in a vehicle (1 of which was for a missing 2-year-old found in a car), 2 allergic reactions, 10 altered or decreased level of consciousness, 4 diabetic emergencies, 1 scorpion sting, 3 man down calls, 3 uncontrolled bleeding, 4 assaults, 4 back pain, 7 abdominal pain, 2 deceased persons, 2 drug withdrawals, 1 laceration, and other illnesses and injuries.

Including: 1 snake removal, 1 illegal trash burning, 1 power pole fire, and various alarms.
