7 involved in 3-car crash in Somerton

A total of seven people and three vehicles were involved in a collision that occurred in Somerton Saturday afternoon, Somerton/Cocopah Fire Department officials say.

At around 1:11 p.m., the SCFD responded to County 14th and Avenue C for a motor vehicle accident.

According to the SCFD news release, responding personnel found a total of three vehicles involved with moderate damages.

Vehicles involved included a Ford F150 consisting of a family of four — two adults and two children ages eight and ten — a Ram truck with a driver and a passenger and a Chrysler Pacifica with one female occupant.

Members of the family all had minor injuries, the release showed, and they were complainin­g of pain due to the accident.

The driver of the Ram truck was complainin­g of neck pain and the passenger was treated at the scene by Somerton Cocopah paramedics but refused transport to Yuma Regional Medical Center, the release stated.

It is also shown in the release that the sole female occupant of the Chrysler Pacifica refused medical attention on scene.

Out of the seven people involved in the accident, five were transporte­d to YRMC via Somerton Cocopah Fire Dept. ambulance and Rural Metro Fire Dept. ambulances.

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigat­ing the accident.
