Local sex offender has new address
A convicted sex offender has a new address in the Yuma area, according to the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office.
David Allen Knaff, 72, is now residing at 11422 E. 38th St. in the Foothills. He is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 173 pounds, with bald/gray hair and blue eyes.
On May 8, 1989, Knaff was convicted by the Teton County District Court of Great Falls, Montana, of sexual intercourse without consent. He was also convicted of sexual assault in a separate case.
Knaff was sentenced to a total of 45 years in prison, but only served 25 years of it. His victims in both cases were 11-year-old females. The first victim was known to him, and the second victim was not.
Investigators with the Great Falls Police Department have advised the YCSO Sex Offender Compliance Team that Knaff likes to go to churches, shelters, bus stops and parks to play his guitar in order to draw kids to him.
Sex offenders are categorized in three levels based on the risk that they pose to the community to reoffend.
Offenders are categorized in three levels. Level 1 is a low risk to re-offend, Level 2 an intermediate risk and Level 3 a high risk. Knaff is considered a Level 3 sex offender/sexual predator with a high risk to re-offend.
