P&Z to consider permit requests
The Yuma Planning and Zoning Commission will hold four public hearings during a Monday meeting to be held at 4:30 p.m. in the Public Works Training Room, 155 W. 14th St.
One of the hearings involves a request by JRP Construction on behalf of Stone Ridge Church for a conditional use permit, which would allow the construction of a 4,000-square-foot youth ministry center and future development phases. The proposed building would be located at 6300 E. 24th St. in the Low Density Residential (R-1-12) District.
The student center would primarily be used by the Stone Ridge Youth Ministry for meetings and training. A portion of the building’s west side will be used for storage.
The commission will also hold a hearing on a request by Core Engineering Group, on behalf of Hirth Enterprises, for a conditional use permit that would allow expansion of an existing commercial use for Liberty Motorsports in the Light Industrial Zoning District.
The applicant has requested an exception that would reduce the setbacks from 20 feet to zero feet at the business, legalizing the existing parking and vehicle displays along Arizona Avenue and 20th Street. The property is located at 1999 S. Arizona Avenue.
Another hearing involves a General Plan amendment request by Dahl, Robins and Associates on behalf of Ghiotto Family Properties to change a land use designation from Medium Density Residential to High Density Residential for about 4.8 acres of property.
The requested land use change is located at the northeast corner of 15th Street and Avenue B. This is the first of two public hearings for this request; the second hearing will be held on June 26.
A hearing will also be held on a request for a conditional use permit by Isidor Cabiri, on behalf of West Yuma AZ. The permit allow a religious institution in the Industrial Park District. The property is located at 2555 E. Gila Ridge Road.
