Fire House Facts
From May 28 through June 3, the Yuma Fire Department responded to 236 emergency calls, including:
• 7 general fire response
Including: A small fire in a back yard, a trailer fire, a smoking ceiling fan, and various alarms.
• 2 mutual aid
Including: Assisted with a brush fire on the California side of the Colorado River, assisted with an emergency medical call in the county.
• 14 motor vehicle crashes
Including: 2 involving poles, 1 involving a fence, 1 involving a motorcycle, and 1 involving 3 vehicles.
• 194 other medical emergencies (serious to minor)
Including: 16 difficulty breathing, 12 chest pains, 22 falls, 9 unconscious people, 7 seizure cases, 5 possible stroke cases, 6 intoxicated persons, 3 people under the influence of drugs, 3 drug overdoses, 10 people with psychiatric problems, 2 heat illness/ dehydration, 3 medical alarms, 2 children locked in vehicles, 3 allergic reactions, 4 choking, 9 altered or decreased level of consciousness, 1 broken bones, 5 diabetic emergencies, 1 dog bite, 11 man down calls, 1 uncontrolled bleeding, 1 bad headache, 1 gunshot wound, 7 assaults, 5 back pains, 5 abdominal pains, 5 lacerations, 1 15-year-old injured while jumping off Ocean-to-Ocean bridge into river, and other illnesses and injuries.

Including: 1 burning tree, 1 vehicle fire, 1 smell of chlorine, 1 chair on fire in a yard, 2 power lines down, 1 person stuck in an elevator, 1 roadside fire, and various alarms.
