For organization, $10 goes a long way toward victim aid

Fundraiser has tremendous impact for Amberly’s Place

-

Get out your wallets, Yuma, and get ready to make a difference by supporting Amberly’s Place.

The organization is in the midst of its annual “Week in Paradise” fundraiser. For just $10, people can purchase raffle tickets for awesome travel prizes generously donated by businesses and organizations across Yuma County. And because the prizes are donated, proceeds go directly back to Amberly’s Place, which has a goal of selling 10,000 tickets to raise $100,000 for the organization.

Those dollars are critical for Amberly’s Place. Each penny received goes toward helping victims of physical and sexual child abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault and elder abuse.

Amberly’s Place moved into its current location in January of 2016, and already, the advocacy center is being called a model for others to follow.

Officials from Tempe who recently toured the facility commented on the efforts to make victims of all ages feel comfortable, while at the same time striking a balance between safety, security and accessibility.

Every single day, the staff at Amberly’s Place makes a measurable difference in Yuma County, walking victims through the process to get help, and start them down the road toward healing. It’s a tremendous, heart-wrenching task, and yet, they do so with dignity and grace.

Buying a raffle ticket directly helps support victims of abuse in Yuma County. And that’s a cause we can all get behind.

Prizes include a trip to Hawaii, Las Vegas, San Diego, Disneyland, Universal Studios, Knott’s Berry Farm, Sea World or a deep-sea excursion out of San Diego, as well as an adventure date in town, and four tickets to a Diamondbacks game, complete with a two-day stay in a hotel. All of the trips include gas and spending money.
