I Outdoor West Championsh­ips in multiple events, competing in the triple jump (38th at 48-11) and the long jump (43rd at 23-3.5). Gaines leaves ISU ranked second all-time in the outdoor long jump and the indoor/ outdoor triple jump.

Jonathon Murray (GR ’15)

Murray set personal-best marks in the 200 meters (22.19) and the 400 meters (48.69)

Zach McClanahan (CHS ’13)

Senior pole-vaulter placed second at the GNAC Indoor Championsh­ips and third at the GNAC Outdoor Championsh­ips; set a personal-best mark of 4.82 meters during the indoor season

Derrick Monroe (CHS ’15)

Mississipp­i State University signee placed eighth in the long jump at the NJCAA Div. I Outdoor Championsh­ips in May after taking third at the Indoor Championsh­ips in March; consistent­ly jumped in the 24-foot range

Treyshon Malone (YC ’15)

Idaho State University signee competed in three events at the NJCAA Div. I Outdoor Championsh­ips, finishing 11th in the long jump, 16th in the 110-meter hurdles and 19th in the 200 meters; at the Region I Championsh­ips, he won the long jump/110-meter hurdles, took second in the 200 meters and third in the 100 meters

Roberto Salazar (Kofa ’14)

Took fifth in the 5,000 meters, seventh in the 10,000 meters and eighth in the 1,500 meters at the Region I Outdoor Championsh­ips

Grady Bourguigno­n (YC ’14)

Competed in one tournament, shooting a three-round total of 239 at the Little Rock First Tee Classic

Loucks transferre­d to ACU for the 201617 season after three years at Western New Mexico, where he had a prominent role but for a team that won just six games while he was there. At ACU, the 6-foot-7 forward averaged 5.5 points and 3.3 rebounds in roughly 14 minutes per game — and ended his collegiate career as a member of an 18win team.

Noah Thompson (CHS ’14)

A sophomore and second-year starter in the Moose’s backcourt, Thompson led the team in assists (3.8 per game) and ranked third in scoring (10.2 PPG)

Steven Mitchell (CHS ’12)

A freshman guard who regularly logged 30 minutes a night, Mitchell put together a well-rounded season stat line of 10.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.4 steals per game.

TJ Smith (CHS ’15)

Athletic, redshirt freshman guard was utilized off the bench nearly every game the first three months of the season, typically in a limited role but not always (see: 70-65 win at Mesa in which he set seasonhigh­s in minutes [23] and points [9]). All told, Smith appeared in 21 of the Matadors’ 33 games.

Isaiah Brown (CHS ’15)

Saw action in 13 games, totaling 22 points and 11 rebounds in 82 minutes

Andy Gandara (CHS ’15)

Sophomore 149-pounder went 1-2 at ASU’s first tournament of the season, the Daktronics Open in Sioux Falls, S.D., and also competed at the Reno Tournament of Champions in mid-December, going 2-2 there

Ramiro Vasquez (YHS ’16)

Freshman 133-pounder went 2-11 on the season, but both of his wins did come in a fifth-place showing at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championsh­ip meet

Abel VillaMoren­o (GR ’12)

Senior 141-pounder capped his four-year Warriors career with his first-ever appearance at the NAIA National Championsh­ips, which he qualified for thanks to a third-place finish at the NAIA South National Qualifier; he went 0-2 at nationals to finish the season at 9-14 overall

4 Raiders at Missouri Valley College

Four former Cibola Raiders — Alexander Juarez (’15), Zac Guerrero (’15), Isaiah Gutierrez (’15) and Eric Arias (’11) — spent the winter together in the small town of Marshall, Mo., home of NAIA wrestling power Missouri Valley College. All but Juarez were new to the team, with Guerrero and Gutierrez both coming from nearby Graceland University and Arias the world of Mixed Martial Arts.

Arias was actually a midseason addition, arriving in Marshall just before the New Year. Not two weeks later, the 125-pounder was in the lineup for the NWCA National Duals, and remained so for the rest of the regular season. In just about one month of action, Arias got in 17 matches, going 2-8 in duals and 3-4 in tournament­s.

The younger Raiders were limited to the latter, competing unattached in two opens each. Guerrero placed fourth at both of his, posting a 7-4 record overall; Juarez and Gutierrez both went 3-4.

Eli McBride (CHS ’14)

Junior diver achieved NCAA qualifying standard for the second year in a row

3 Kings at Dixie State University

Three former Kofa Kings — Kenny Barajas (’15), Frankie Mallek (’14) and Ricardo Villa (’16) — were members of a Dixie State team that went 13-0 in the Pacific West Conference and made the program’s first-ever NCAA Division II tournament appearance, though only Barajas (8 GP, 1 GS) was on the active roster. Mallek, a regular starter for the Red Storm in 2014/15, sat the 2016 season out with an injury, while Villa redshirted.

Robert Kochis (KHS ’14) Michael Kochis (KHS ’15)

Robert was again a regular starter, while Michael (3 G, 3 A) ranked second on the team in points; they were in their second year together at the Oregon-based school

Antonio Salazar (KHS ’11)

Appeared in two games

10 at Arizona Western

AWC, which enjoyed a 15-3-3 season, boasted 10 local contributo­rs, seven of whom played regularly: Marlon Atondo (SL ’15), Cesar Moreno (SL ’15), Beto Garcia (CHS ’16), Cristian Villegas (KHS ’16), Carlos Lopez (CHS ’16), Archie Gurrola (SL ’15) and Eddie Banuelos (GR ’15).

Atondo (1 G, 5 A) was named an AllACCAC first-team defender, while Moreno (10 G, 4 A) was an honorable mention selection at forward; Garcia (10 G, 7 A) finished tied for the team lead in points, and Villegas (4 G, 10 A) ranked tied-for-second in the ACCAC in assists. Lopez (5 G, 5 A), Gurrola (2 G, 3 A) and Banuelos (1 G, 3 A) provided depth.

Also for the Matadors, Manuel Alfaro (SL ’11) totaled one goal and four assists in 11 games played, while Omar Ibarra (GR) made 13 appearance­s and Ivan Macias (CHS ’16) made five.

At Mesa, Richard Hernandez (San Luis ’15) appeared in 14 games for the Thunderbir­ds, Roberto Salazar (Kofa ’14) appeared in 11 and Jovanni Carbajal (Cibola ’13) appeared in two

Angel Lopez (KHS ’16)

Totaled three goals and two assists in 16 games played (4 starts)

Appeared in five games (starting one) as a redshirt freshman; utilized primarily as a blocker

Edgar Gastelum (CHS ’14)

As a first-year Wildcat following two seasons at AWC, Gastelum handled kickoff duties for UA in eight games (62.8-yard average, 15 touchbacks) before suffering a mid-November concussion and leaving the team shortly thereafter.

Stetson Stallworth (YC ’16)

Appeared in seven games, completing 11 of 22 total attempts for 120 yards and three touchdowns

Riley McAdam (YHS ’15)

Former prep QB made the switch to WR as a first-year Cowboy, but didn’t see much game action and has since transferre­d

Jagan Cleary (YC ’14)

After seeing part-time action as a freshman, Cleary rose to full-time starter in 2016 and thrived, posting the second-highest completion percentage (65.1) in school history to go along with the third-most touchdown passes (17) and fourth-most passing yards (2,306), all the while helping the Illinois-based Foresters double their 2015 win total (from 4-6 to 8-2).

Armando Mosqueda (YHS ’16)

Appeared in six games, totaling 14 tackles and an intercepti­on

Ricky Hampton (YC ’14)

Totaled seven tackles in five games played as a third-year Terrier

Abe Thompson (CHS ’15)

A former Northern Arizona fullback, Thompson switched sides of the ball upon joining the Matadors for the 2016 season and emerged as a key member of one of the NJCAA’s best defenses. Thompson totaled 46 tackles, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and an intercepti­on for an AWC team that went 11-1 and played for a national title.

Finished 49th at the Pac-12 Championsh­ips and 102nd at the West Regional

Jonathan VanDeberg (GR ’14)

Ran in one meet as a third-year member of the Red Storm

Aldo Marquez (GR ’16)

Competed at the NJCAA Division I National Championsh­ips, finishing 71st out of roughly 300 runners to help the Pumas take seventh as a team
