- BY RACHEL TWOGUNS @RTWOGUNS

Because many go through various changes as they age and vision is no exception, Yuma Regional Medical Center’s Silver Care program will be offering a series of talks this month with various topics such as eye health for those over the age of 55.

The free Silver Care Program was created in 2010 to offer health-related benefits to senior community members and winter visitors. Presently, the program serves nearly 4,600 members.

According to YRMC’s community outreach specialist Mario Zappitelli, the upcoming events are part of a Silver Care series titled “Coffee and Conversation.”

For the upcoming talk, Dr. Adam Ahmadi will be explaining common, senior-related eye issues as well as treatments and resources available at YRMC. A light breakfast and, of course, coffee will be served.

The event is to take place on Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the Administrative Building of YRMC, 2400 S. Avenue A.

To register for the event, call (928) 336-3100. While RSVP’s are not required, Zappitelli noted that they are appreciated.

Ahmadi will also be answering questions and engaging with attendees. He received his medical degree and completed his residency in ophthalmology at Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C., according to his biography.

Additionally, he completed his glaucoma fellowship at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, La.
